I am mainly looking at going with a XPR radio because the people I know who are in to it are using them. It is less expensive initially and easier to program as you are not dealing with Motorola software or depending on someone else to program your radio. Spare batteries and speaker mics are less expensive as well. Connect systems CS750 is another less expensive option. I did get a chance to see the difference in transmit and receive audio between the MD-380 and an XPR5550 (mobile rig). Of course there is the large speaker difference, but really not much other difference. The 5550 has a higher power advantage. There is also the XPR4550 for a mobile rig. There are many more options available. IMHO the MD-380 provides the most bang for the buck.
