I went back up there about 8am this morning with wrench just in case, to see that the straps where still holding. I sprayed sealant liberally the one that rubberizes as it dries, on the nuts and screws, as seen on TV, its the only thing I had handy for the moment. All is solid, but as I left the building, to go food shopping from a block away I could see how strong those winds are, I'd never seen my mast sway so much. All should hold well, the brackets were as solid as a rock. Still waiting for the supermarket to deliver the goods. In short all is well. I'm on listening on 450 at the moment.

On Sun, Feb 15, 2015 at 10:15 AM, Bob <n1ujs@toast.net> wrote:

Proud of you man. Little did I know, how good of an idea it was to go up there. I found the 2 top straps had been rattled so bad by the winds, the brackets were dangling by 1 nut each & the others on the floor. Got the connector all soldered up and all is well, now if only this arctic air mass would go the f away, things would be better, I usually like winter, but this time around, I'll be saying thank you coming and thank you for leaving.

On Thu, Feb 5, 2015 at 12:01 PM, <kc1wj@kc1wj.com> wrote:

Do as the noridics do in this type of weather, spit fire & chew lava. My beams have been a pain with the ice, so I decided at 8am to put the vertical back up, myself. You can see my enthusiasm in the mirror photo, got it done in 50 minutes, then, went to plug in the coax to the radio, only to have the center pin on the pl259 snap off :( so I'm off to radio shack to get a connector & new soldering gun, then go to my cardiologist appointment.
