Hamfest is not 'til later (March 21rst), so you are
not off the hook yet!!!
Missed point #2:
The gathering is still (so far) Sam the Clam for lunch.

Missed point #3:
The "Sam's for lunch, Sally's for dinner" line was
just a tease to get your attention!!!!!

In all seriousness however, I'm sure we would all
love to have you join us....if not at the 'fest or
the following festivities, at a time and date of your
choosing "just for the heck of it"!!!!

Your weekend sounds like radio fun!!
It does ever so
slightly remind me of the guys with the orange vests
and the cones, HT's pressed to their very serious
faces directing traffic at the scene of a roadkill or
a walk-a-thon however......heh heh.....

Well as it turns out here in the Northern Catskill
high peaks we were in the
bullseye of this whopper of a storm.

We received a record 6 feet of snow from Tuesday to
Friday afternoon.

Six feet. More in the highest locations. Front
loaders and monster
excavation equipment were more the norm rather than
your traditional plow
trucks, some of which were getting stuck themselves
throughout the cleanup
effort today.

Yesterday there was gridlock on the roads leading to
our ski resorts (Hunter
and Windham) and we expect the same today (Sun).

I was on the radio here (and online at wrip979.com)
from 1:30p today
relaying information about power restoration efforts,
emergency services and
road closures/conditions. Plus we were putting
callers on the air trying to
get people plowed out who had been stranded for up to
four days. Live and
local radio, just what you'd expect I guess.

Some of the audio I collected from emergency
officials and police aired live
right off the phone, other times I recorded, edited
and processed the audio
in CEPro for better intelligibility on air.

All in all a very satisfying day for this radio
junkie, as you might
imagine.

Hope your gathering was swell...wondering what the
gang all thought of
Sally's and did you receive the requisite amount of
attitude from the wait
staff, or did UJS go and nuzzle up to (owner) Flo
Consiglio?
Yea, I'll be going....pre or post....I dunno, close
call (hillbilly beard
will have to be included this year).
I had realized that I left the mic we were talking
about in L.I. I thought
that I would have been there at least once this
winter, but things happened.
I do plan on going out there next week, weather
permitting, to lop down
those 15' tall hedges (before the sap starts flowing
and leafing out
starts). At least this way I'll have both tube
pre-amp and mic at the
'fest.
