William,

I liked it very much until about a year ago the TX crapped mysteriously
when attempting to respond to Shawn during hid Mt. Washington activation.
It is apart and awaiting repair....but so is the 706 and the FT-847.

Dave --

Let us know when you get the rig from DX engineering and if everything is
cool.

Speaking of new rigs -- I am getting a new "old" rig, a TS450SAT. I can put
all the filters from my 440 in it too.

The 450 is pretty much an 850 with a couple fewer features and not a
"base".

Hey Bob -- what did you think of your 850 as far as ease of operation, rcv
and all that stuff?

That 9700 does EVERYTHING!

Big bucks though. I bet when 9700 comes out, the 7300's price will drop.
I've had a chance to extensively play with one and once you get used to the
touch screen, it's a great radio. Don't worry, It does have knobs and
buttons too . Only thing is it's 160-6 meters.

got here about 7:20pm I was surprised. I told them over the phone that it
didn't power up regardless of what I did, so they're just gonna replace it
with another unit, if this one doesn't work, I might go for a Yaesu 857D.
But I'm not looking forward to that situation. The new IC-9700 looks sweet
heh.

I have dealt with RF parts for years and never had a problem. In fact, I
just bought a power supply from them. Brand new, in the box. Works
perfectly. Maybe is was some kind of screw up. Maybe call them up and tell
them the situation and they will replace it with a "known" new one with
free shipping and free return shipping on your end.

Worth a try.

Oh man. That's terrible!

was a floor model, as the face plastic that suppose to protect the radio
had very obvious scratches, aka its used. And it doesn't power up. I'm not
dealing with dx engineering again, you only have one time to make an
impression, with this much being spent.
