[450] Hello 450 !!

Bob,
Thanks! I thought you were using some power. I thought it was lower (450 to 600 W), but your memory is better than mine on this one.
I also worked PA stations on the trip to VA. Range was 104 miles with the halo and 45 to 50 W on my end and large single beams on the other end with about 150 W. There were dropouts along the way, but signals would come back just when I thought they were gone. This was FM.
I would think my current setup should work out to 100 mi (120 W/halo) if not blocked by mountains. Maybe a little more on SSB.
George

Pair of phased 10 element Cushcrafts horizontally spaced at 8 feet horizontally polarized. Unsure if Henry was on line at the time, but if it was, 900 watts.
Nonetheless, if you get the beam up, I'll get you.

I still have that antenna. I have to repair the driven element. But the rig is defective, but I could use the 817 and an amp, but would only have 40 to 50 W at most. I need to at least get the 2 M beam up and possibly the beam for 6 after mud season. 2 M FM is not very good up here. I can’t get Mt. Washington which was a disappointment. There are only two repeaters which are not terribly active. No simplex activity to speak of.
Once I get the beam up, I hope to be able to get back to CT on 2 M.
What were you running when you tracked me well into NH when I was mobile?

We spoke of you. He remembers you falling of the roof and selling you a K1FO antenna for 432.

Please send him my best regards the next time you speak to him. It has been a long time since I last talked to him. I am sure you are right on the time, but time passes quickly!

Making my (very late) dinner right now, but I'll be back in the shack in a while. Been on all night with N1SAG (Dave in New Hartford)who disappeared right after I moved out of Waterbury! He's back after roughly a 12 year hiatus! We did 6, 2, and 432.

Problem is on my end. The antenna is only a halo and not far above ground. SSB might be more practical, but my antenna imposes limitations. Hope to get beam up after mud season.

NG4C NC was about S4 to 5 on .205, nice to see under flat conditions.

Called a few times, guess your not hearing me. At the very least I see the amp works fine after a decade put away.

I don’t think we can work each other, but I am on the air , listening to 144.450 MHz.
I have preamp on, 120 W and using a halo 12 feet above ground. Sitting here listening to HF, so why not listen on 2 M.
Let me know if you want to try 144.200 SSB
