Ever wonder how an inline static gap lightning arrestor works?

1958s nostalgia!

Admittedly the gas discharge tube types are much better...but hey...in a
pinch these are much better than the alternative - and they are mega cheap
:-)

Just make sure to test with your multimeter that the center conductor isn't
fused to the shield before you ever buy one - this means it's been hit
already! They only take one hit and need to be replaced...

Just thought some might appreciate the history - pics and original patent
drawings and description attached!
