Subject: DX TOUR RETURNS THIS WEEKEND: STARTING TOMORROW! THE MOUNTAINS OF
SOUTHERN VERMONT!
To:

With New Hampshire behind us, the DX TOUR moves onto the neighboring state
of Vermont this weekend with two separate activations.

First up, *TOMORROW SATURDAY MORNING*, is Hogback Mountain near Willington,
VT known as "Home of the 100 Mile View." A famous roadside scenic overlook
off Route 9 with spectacular views to the south - views so *inspiring* that
John Small, upon visiting, was *inspired* to write a song about it. Click
here:

Sufficed to say, we hope to *inspire* some great radio activity (not sure
if I'll be writing any songs).

Next, this *SUNDAY MORNING*, will be the mighty Equinox Mountain near
Manchester, VT, which at 3,848 feet is the highest point in the Taconic
Range. It is also home to the longest, privately owned, paved toll road in
the United States . . . famous Skyline Drive. A later start as the gates
don't' open to 9am, but a great chance to catch a mobile driving the 5 mile
stretch to the top - and a well-known mountain to hit in New England.

Official details below:

TOMORROW, SATURDAY, 10/20 - Hogback Mountain, Vermont

7:30am - 12:30pm
Main Frequency 27.440 lsb
Back ups: 27.435 or 27.430 lsb

SUNDAY, 10/21 - Equinox Mountain, Vermont

9am - 9:30am - On-Air Drive up Mountain
9:30am - 3:30pm - On-air Off the Summit
Same frequency info as above.

As always, available to QSY to quieter frequencies, and for some, various
frequency spectrums - if it helps secure the contact, if less noisy . . .
with more skip and noise on the airwaves these days, many operators are
successfully making contacts with a few quick "QSY's." Feel free to reach
me at 917-386-8711 to clarify whereabouts, check on timing, and set up a
contact on frequency of your choice. I expect Saturday at Hogback to be
real challenge - may not be easy for everyone, it'll take your best shot!
Sunday at Equinox should provide greater odds at it is thousands of feet
higher in the sky.....but still, farther up north.

Lastly, the best part of these activations is that operators from nearly 8
different states often pop in, offering a great chance to everyone to make
ground wave connections with each other - so stick around a while on
frequency, and you never know who might just show up.

Hope to catch you on the air,

Shawn
