A good reminder! for those who are energy challenged, remember the guy who shows up with the big batteries. They are inexpensive and good for staying on the air during the next tropical storm (or hurricane). You can build your own Schottky diode device to trickle charge your battery and provide automatic switchover to battery on loss of AC power. If you like spending money or don't want to DIY, buy one of the West Mountain Radio.
