Bob,

Switched to the four element beam, heard someone comeback when I called you. Fickle band. It does not seem to do well in the summer. Performance was definitely better in cooler wx Presently it seems much more like 70 cm than 2 M.

It's the hairless lumpy head band!

George

        Bob,

Are you on 223.500? I called a few times, no response. Maybe I can't get from here to there on 223.500!

Just finished "kerchunking" every known 222 repeater pair, using every known PL.
All done on the CX-333 @ 45' with no amp, no preamp.
Here is the list of what I got and how I got 'em.

By the way, signal report will be represented by "sB" (busy light, which is roughly 0-3 S-units best I can figure), or numerically (s1-s5), based on my 5 segment meter.

          223.78 Torrington, CT 82.5 s5
          223.80 Harriman, NY 107.2 s5
          223.82 Pamona, NY 85.4 sB+
223.86 West Islip, LI 110.9/156.7 sB
          223.88 Milford, CT 77 sB+
          223.94 Manhattan, NYC 107.2 sB

224.10 Fairfield, CT no PL sB+

          224.22 Bristol, CT 118.8 s5
          224.24 Fort Lee, NJ 107.2 sB+

224.82 Queens, NYC no PL s1
          224.86 Farmingville, LI 107.2 sB
224.88 Patterson, NY no PL s2
          224.90 Rocky Point, LI 123 s1
224.94 Avon, CT no PL s2
          224.96 Bridgeport, CT 77 sB

There you have it for what it's worth.

I'm not really impressed. Is it the antenna? The band? Do people not put enough effort into their 222 machines?
          Hard to say.
